Joe Lieberman's Power Trip

Who is this Joe Lieberman? Man is he on a power trip or what! Since he ran as VP candidate with Al Gore he has promoted expanding Medicare to those between 55 and 64 for a buy-in at full premium rates. Suddenly he is threatening to side with the Republicans to filibuster the bill if it has that provision in it, thus not allowing the bill to even get to the floor for a full vote of the senate. This time I can't see the health insurance industry paying him off to kill the buy-in option, as this option would allow the high consumers of health care dollars to bleed off into the Medicare program and reduce demand on premium dollars of the insurance company. Especially if there is no government subsidy or private policy model paid by the government with guaranteed profit, as it is now with the traditional subsidized private policies for those 64 years old and above.

There is something wrong with our system if one senator who can prevent a bill from coming to the floor for a full vote of the senate. The senate has become completely dysfunctional and obstructionist. I can't understand the conservative Democrats being so difficult when the CBO reports it will actually save money and reduce the budget over 10 years. The Democrats have got to strip Joe Lieberman's chairmanships and put him on the least important committee the senate has, like capital hill sanitation. This is nuts....  I know it has always been about Joe and not the country or even his constituents. EGO, EGO...  His Rabi needs to confront him and introduce some humility to him.

If this is a power trip, come on Republicans, one or two of you should cross over and stop any filibuster of the bill to reach the floor and allow a full vote on the bill. Don't go down in history that the Republicans killed any chance for reform and should the system continue to implode, it will be you who will be known as the one to cause such suffering among the people.

That is wishful thinking, as the conservative caucus ideology is that only those who work hard enough to buy their own insurance or pay out of pocket, should have access to health care. If you can't obtain an income to do that and pay all our other bills, then that's too bad, suffer and die. It is a philosophy of self reliance and independence in all things. I will help my neighbor, if I feel like it, but don't make me. They truly believe that government is evil and can't be trusted. I don't know how they can even govern, which they don't, because of this hatred for anything government. They are in fact anarchists. A free for all in as much as the MARKET and GOD will take care of everything a person might possibly need or want. What is so contradictory is their infusion of  religion into their philosophy that they want government to control those who do not practice their religious dogma. It is very hard for me to get my head around this way of thinking. It is sooo illogical.

We can only wait to see what Lieberman will do and what we finally get for health care reform.
