National Prayer Breakfast

Like all presidents since 1953 when the National Prayer Breakfast was organized, President Obama also appeared at this years event. But there is a big difference this year that needs to be noted. For must of us, we knew that a Christian group was the originator and event sponsor, but it was a bit ambiguous as to what organization. The name the Fellowship International was not well known. But today, we know a lot more about this secretive organization, as they are also known as the Family and operates a "Church" known as the C Street House with living quarters for US senators and representative, as well as other public and military officials who are members of the organization.

The Family is also connected to the proposed Ugandan law that would incarcerate for life homosexuals and execute them, if they have had homosexual sex. We have also come to know that many conservative members of our government are members and promoting the Family's teachings both in America and around the world. The fundamental principals of this organization is that Jesus was not a pacifist, but was teaching that the need to obtain power and wealth to promote his teachings. They do not support democracy but more of a fascist style of governance with a triad coalition of corporations-religion-government. To them there is no separation of Church and State. They state that those who have obtained political power and economic wealth have done so by divinity of God, if they are faithful to God. Now you would think they would not support Senator Ensign of Nevada for his marital affair, or Governor Sanford for his, both are members of the Family, but their sexual conquests are not important as long as they are in power.

So now that we have more knowledge of this group, more caution might need to be exercised when accepting invitations to participate in their events. I realize that it would be politically difficult for Obama at this time to decline their invitation to speak at this years event. However, as more insight is gathered into the political and ultra religious dealing of this organization, I might suggest he decline next year, especially if Uganda does pass the proposed anti-gay legislation and the Family's continued interference in American governance.
