Ala Cart Public Services

An interesting situation occurred in the South, I think Mississippi, in which a home was left to burn to the ground because the owner failed to pay a $75.00 fire protection fee that the town near their rural home charges to non-city residence to provide this service, because the very small town does not receive tax revenue from these homes to help pay the cost of providing this service. An Ala Cart model of public services.

I bring this up, because so many conservatives are wanting an ala cart type of system so they don't have to pay a share of the cost to protect their neighbor, if that neighbor can't afford to pay the same amount as they. They don't want anyone getting something more than they do or something they didn't pay the same for.

As I've joked before, we could end up with the 911 dispatcher asking you what credit card you want to use before sending the police, fire and medical personnel to you. You may have to install metered toilets in your home to pay for your water and sewer use based on how much you expel or use. You may have to pay for each mile you drive on a road by credit card with a GPS system linked to the billing system, like the toll charged to use the express lane now on I-15 in Salt Lake, Weber, Davis and Utah counties. You may need to pay a toll to walk on a sidewalk.

You will pay directly to the school for your child's education, no that won't happen, as large families don't pay for their kids education now, unless they go to a private school, and they are mainly conservatives, hypocritical? Yes!

You may have to pay for everything separately either to a private for profit company or what is left of government services. Most conservatives want free enterprise to provide all these services, even though it would result in higher fees so that the company can return a profit to their share holders or owners.

The idea of shared risk for the good of all of society will no longer be part of the American way of life. There will be a complete breakdown between the have's and have not's, just as it is in Mexico and other dysfunctional third world countries.

Think about this come November 2nd when you are in the voting booth. Is this the America you want?
