Here they go again. Oklahoma Legislature is in session, like Utahs, and see these right-wing nuts begin their campaign of homophobia, anti-science, and other far right-wing craziness.
Oklahoma State Rep. Mike Reynolds (R-Oklahoma City) is pushing a bill that would ban gays and lesbians from serving openly in the state's National Guard. Even worse, the legislation doesn't prohibit state officials from directly questioning someone about their sexual orientation – essentially removing the "Don't Ask" component of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" (DADT).If this discriminatory bill becomes law, Oklahoma will join countries like China, Iran, Syria, North Korea, and Pakistan in prohibiting gays and lesbians from serving their country openly.
This legislation represents nothing more than an attempt to revive the anti-gay sentiment and misinformation used during the fight to repeal DADT. Send Rep. Reynolds a letter now telling him to pull his support from this outdated and discriminatory bill.
I can't wait to see what 'Message Bills" and other crazy shit comes out of Utah's legislative session this year.
More of secession from the Union with 'STATES RIGHTS." Why do they hate the federal government so much. It has given Utah much more in return than we have paid into it. If it wasn't for the federal government we couldn't afford the new freeways we drive on, the TRAX system and the Front Runner train or the new airport they are starting to build, or the Central Utah Water Project that is supplying a lot of water to the Wasatch Front, or Little Dell reservoir, as well as all the other ones we get our water from, like Lake Powell and Dear Creek. Get over it. We are a nations of Americans, together we share and support each other.
