Utah's Crazy Liquor Laws Explained!

This is a great animation about Utah's crazy liquor laws. Even as they have improved over the past several decades, they continue to be annoying and frustrating for visitors and businesses trying to operate in the state.

Our righteouslature in conjunction with the LDS church leadership continually push the crazy in what they assume is a way to reduce the consumption of alcoholic beverages. However, it harms the economic benefits of allowing adults to be adults. Not everyone who imbibes is an alcoholic and drives drunk.  Most imbibers are responsible social consumers and take responsibility for their behavior and makes sure they are not under the influence when they get behind the wheel.

The anti-adulthood members of the Righteouslature and Mormon activist claim that these draconian laws have allowed the state to have the lowest drunk driving stats. However, they forget to say that a huge percentage of the population do not imbibe because they are Mormon and follow their "Word of Wisdom" laws to fore sake anything with alcohol in it, unless it is medicinal in nature, cough syrup anyone.

As has been proven by the relaxing and some efforts to bring the state into the 21st century, like eliminating the "private club license" requirement for an establishment whose primary business is to serve alcoholic beverages, along with entertainment and food. An individual would have to purchase an annual membership of that particular club in order to enter the establishment. If you wanted to visit more than one in a year, you would have to purchase separate memberships to each you wanted to enjoy. Now they are treated as open establishments for anyone 21 yo and above, but they are required to copy your ID and hold it for two weeks, in case you have an accident or are involved in some sort of crime, they can check to see if you had been drinking in that establishment.

Here now is the animated movie:
