Due to the many news reports of police departments around the country that are closing down and yes, even arresting kids who set up lemonade stands to earn a little money for themselves and in many cases for a school project or charity. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW:
Kids as young a 9 have actually been arrested and hauled to juvenile court for not having a permit, food handlers permit, and violating the child labor laws, even though they are working for themselves, not some company.
In some police departments, common sense and reason has left the department. Strict adherence to their interpretation of a law is all that matters.
There have been cases of Girl Scouts being arrested for selling their annual cookies on a street corner without a sales permit or collecting the sales tax on the sale.
How crazy has this country gone for this to occur. Back in the 50s and 60s, these type of corner tables with kids selling such things where common place, and I don't remember a story of one of them being force to close or the kids arrested for having a lemonade stand or cookie stand.
