When a very serious subject can be conveyed with humor.

If you have ever traveled by airline, you know how boring the safety announcements are. Basically the same thing over and over. You soon just tune it out.  Well some airlines have come to realize this and made some changes to get your attention.  This video is the new safety video for Air New Zealand.

Just recently I was flying on a Delta flight from Salt Lake City to Orlando, FL. I noticed there was a new flight attendant giving the safety instructions, so I started to watch. Quickly I noticed the background humor they had put in the new video. I started to laugh out loud and those around me looked at me like I was crazy, as did my wife sitting next to me with here head down in a book. I pointed to the screen and laughed again. She with many passengers around me started to watch the video, some first not seeing the humor, but then realized what I was laughing at, thus so did they. On my return flight, there was the same flight attendant starting the same looking video, but I suddenly realized that there were changes to some of the humor. That got my attention and again started to laugh out loud. I noted the same reaction by the passengers around me, then some of them joined in my laughter. Great job Delta. I hope they make that one viral so I can post it here.

BTW: Kathrine Lee, aka Deltalina, is the gorgeous red head flight attendant that did the flight safety video starting in 2008. She got my attention.  She has a cameo appearance in the new videos. She is great. I would love to be on a flight with her working it. I wouldn't sleep during that flight.

Now for a treat. Below is a behind the scene clip of making the Hobbit safety video. That would have been so much fun to produce.
