Mia enters our lives. Welcome to the family.

When Judy came home after clinic Saturday, she saw how sad and depressed I was at the passing of our long time companion and child, Toby. I was emotionally exhausted and slept most the day. We had talked before Toby's passing about getting another dog, but thought it best to wait till spring. But as things happen in life, a good friend of ours, Jim, after hearing about Toby started looking on Craigslist for another companion for us. He called about one he saw that we might like, but as we scanned the listing, we saw this cute chihuahua that was six months old and house trained. We called and the owner said they were in poor financial shape and needed to sell one of their dogs, they had three. It only weighs 2 lbs, so very small and should not get much larger, if at all. Sunday morning we went to see the dog and played with it for almost an hour. We went home, did some shopping and decided to adopt the little one. So tonight, we went back and picked her up and getting her use to her new home. So far, so good.

Though we now have a new companion to bring us joy and love, we are still grieving for the loss of Toby. My eyes are still full of tears and my heart aches. And like the other two who passed on before him, they remain in my heart and mind constantly. I have photos of all of them on my desk at work. When people ask if I have children, I swing the photos around and they grin at me. Now I have another photo to add to my desk.
