Please note that he makes the claim that religious sins or moral rules should not be in public policy, then he states that because the Catholic Church states that homosexuality and gay marriage is immoral and a sin, that public policy should prohibit them from marring. Complete contradiction in statements. So which is the truth?
 

Here is Rick Santorum attacking Ron Paul about Paul's idea that each state should determine what marriage is, even though he believe that marriage is between a single man and a single woman.

This segment is very appropriate in today's political election cycle. The assault on women's health care, contraception and the collision with religion.

As Islamic theocratic nations enforce their individual interpretations of Islamic law, so are the Christians in America. Rick Santorum is a prime example of his Christianist statements about thinking birth control is has aided in the moral decline of society, schools and universities indoctrinate children into liberal thought and they start to question their faith or worst loose their religious faith, so the education should be taught in religious schools or at home by parents. These Christianist are outright hostile to the term and idea of Secularism and want society and governance to be Christian sectarianism.

America is in a major cultural and religious war, not because of secularists, which is what the country was founded on, but by the sectarians who want the intertwining of their beliefs into governance.

Who will win? Will be ultimately become a Christian theocracy?  We are quickly moving in that direction.

Santorum Makes Campaign Swing Through Fifteenth Century - Blasts Contraception, Electricity, Soap

THE FIFTEENTH CENTURY ( Borowitz-Murri) – In an effort to underscore his core beliefs leading up to this Tuesday night’s primary contests, former Sen. Rick Santorum made a campaign swing through the Seventeenth Century today.

At the first stop of his ambitious journey, Mr. Santorum restated his reason for seeking the White House: “I am running for President today because the position of Spanish Inquisitor is no longer available.”

The former Pennsylvania Senator served up red meat to his fifteenth-century supporters, telling them, “Since we all agree that contraception is a bad idea, it’s time to take a harder look at electricity and soap.”

Mr. Santorum, who said that in his first day in office he would repeal the Age of Enlightenment, stressed that he had home-schooled all seven of his children: “That means there are at least eight people in this country who don’t understand evolution.”

In a lighter moment, Sen. Santorum told his audience what he said was his favorite joke: “A Kenyan, a Muslim and a socialist walk into a bar. And then he makes everyone get an abortion.”

During an interview with the editorial board of the Flint Journal, Rick Stantorum stated how he admired Queen Isabella's demanded for heavy taxes from non-Christians who did not convert and remained in Spain. It is a policy he is considering during his administration.

Elsewhere on the campaign trail, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich scored points with this comment on education: “We should leave no child behind, only wives.”

Newt also supported Santorum's return to the fifteenth century by underscoring his belief that children should work for their education. "As I stated before, poor children - poor black children should not get a free ride - or lunch for that matter - when it comes to their education. Every child who can't afford to pay for their education or not home schooled must work a least 4 hours a day, either at their school or at one of the rich peoples homes as janitors and gardeners.  Back in Queen Isabella's time, children were expected to work and support the family. We have far too long allowed our children to be children and shield them from developing a strong work ethic."

Mitt Romney to not be out done by Newt and Rick said to his small crowd gathered in the Ford Field, he stated, 

"As you know I apposed the governments bail out of the auto industry that my father help build. My father help create the greatest car company in the world, American Motors Corporation, my friends.  What I wrote in the Detroit Daily News is that GM and Chrysler should go through a structured bankruptcy. By doing this the companies would be allowed to void the UAW contracts and replace the very costly union labor with lower cost child labor. With the lower cost of child labor, Bain Capital, that I use to run, would have provided the funds to save at least GM, I don't know about Chrysler, that company grabbed  the good cars my dad built when American Motors went bankrupt. Great cars like the Jeep and the Eagle. Obama didn't help American Motors avoid bankruptcy.  Why did he choose to help GM and Chrysler, but not AMC?  Because of crony capitalism, my friends. We can't trust a president that give money to GM and Chrysler and allows American Motors to fail. That's just not right."

Why has my country become the laughingstock of the world? Well, look at the comments above: you need look no further than Rick Santorum, who embodies all of the craziness of America’s Christian fundamentalists, a guy whose worldview, frighteningly, most closely matches that of the majority of Republicans. As Jason Easley wrote, it’s a chilling thought. Santorum is telling the world that Satan is attacking America. Gay people destroyed our economy. Fixing marriage will somehow fix everything. And this guy is currently the Republican front runner. How far we have come from the heady days of Barry Goldwater!

There once was a time when Americans could feel smugly superior to the rest of the world because of our power, our technology, our industriousness, and our science. We represented the future. Now, we wake up in the year 2012 and find ourselves on the express train to the thirteenth century. Rather than science we have superstition; we have thrown out the germ theory of medicine to which so much is owed and replaced it with prayer. People laugh at us. And they should. Because Rick Santorum wants America to represent the past.

I would laugh too, were I not weeping.

Look at what one of our two major political parties is telling voters:

• When God is angry, he kills birds. Why is anyone’s guess.
• When God doesn’t want to kill birds he can send tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis and other things we once knew as natural disasters to do some truly obscene Old Testament-style slaughter, killing the innocent with the guilty.
• When it doesn’t rain, the drought is not to be explained by way of the science of meteorology. How can it be, when supposedly the only cure for a drought is prayer? Never mind that this has the same success rate as sacrificing virgins.
• Gas prices are also controlled by God. Apparently, he makes them high when he is pissed off about something. He will lower them, we are told, if enough people pray for him to do so. Never mind that it never actually works (see the comment above about virgin sacrifice).
• You can pray abortion out of existence. So far it’s legislation that’s stripping women of their reproductive rights, not God. The level of hypocrisy here is staggering; at least take those offensive signs down or put your money where your mouth is.
• People don’t exist because of a sperm meeting an egg but because God decided that a person should exist.
• Zygotes are people – but women are not. How else to explain the near constant of an embryo’s life being worth more than the potential mother’s?
• Global warming isn’t taking place because it can’t be taking place: God said he won’t destroy us by flood again, etc. God will take care of us.
• The economy is not based on or governed by economic principles but by God. Farewell greed, not to mention supply and demand. If we pray hard enough and repent, God will fix the economy too.
• God decides which countries will be powerful and successful. He once chose Rome. Now he has chosen the U.S.
• God chooses rulers for countries, not voters. Inexplicable is his choice of several competing politicians. Perhaps a divine personality disorder might explain it? Again, if they really believe this, why do they bother to vote?
• Abstinence works despite all the evidence pointing to the contrary (but it has to work because contraception is evil). Yeah, abstinence is the only 100% certain form of birth control but you have to practice it 100% of the time and that’s where the problems begin. Ask Bristol Palin.
• Gay marriage will somehow destroy heterosexual marriage, an argument as illogical as their claim that neutrality toward matters of religion is actually an attack on religion.

These are beliefs the rest of the world began to abandon with the Renaissance and most had been pretty thoroughly rejected by the time of the European Enlightenment. There is a reason God scored a big goose-egg in the Declaration of Independence and in the U.S. Constitution.

We know the claims made in the above list are a bunch of hooey. We know why there are animal (including bird) die-offs. We know what causes various natural disasters, including tornadoes, hurricanes, and tsunamis; there are no mysteries there. It is no coincidence that earthquakes can take place on both sides of the Pacific – the Ring of Fire is explanation enough – pinning it on God is absurd when you have tectonic plates shifting. We also know what controls the price of gas and God has nothing to do with it. Ditto for the creation of life. We know where babies come from and it’s not God but vigorous and often mutually enthusiastic sex. The list above is crap and the modern world understands it as such and so there is no mystery at all why people are laughing at my country; it is no less than it deserves.

It is Americans, after all, who allowed the situation to get as bad as it has. There is no excuse at all for 2010.

How did this happen? How did the most advanced industrialized nation on earth, one committed to liberty, come to the brink of a superstitious, backward-looking theocracy?

A small group of racist white evangelicals saw their position of privilege begin to erode, and they panicked. The election of a black progressive Christian as president while a cause for celebration for forward-looking Americans (and most foreigners) was as the sounding of the gong of doom to these white fundamentalists. Here was a black guy who had the audacity to become president when he should have been serving them their breakfast, taking care of their garden, or doing maintenance at their summer cottage. At the very best he should be the White House gardener, not the occupant of the Oval Office. We all knew racism still existed; but many of us weren’t prepared for the shameless audacity with which so many conservatives expressed it.

Look (and let’s be honest about this): it doesn’t matter what President Obama does; it never did. Because no matter what he does or doesn’t do, he will always be a black man and the secret truth at the heart of conservatism is that only white Christian people (and then only the right type of Christian because mainline protestants are “gone from the world of Christianity”) are “real” Americans. America was made by God for white Christians and if the First Amendment doesn’t establish Christianity as a state religion than it damn well ought to!

Fundamentalists of course love what they’re hearing. That goes without saying. It feeds all their preconceptions: They are being told exactly what they want to hear, they are being told exactly what they already want to believe or do believe. Group psychosis has never been more popular since the Nuremberg rallies. The truly sad part is that so many otherwise intelligent liberals are still in denial regarding the threat to our democracy posed by these lunatic theocrats. All of them should pay a visit toTheocracyWatch. Read the entire site and then come back and tell me we’re panicking over nothing.

And here’s the deal whether you want to hear it or not: if the theocrats win in 2012, the Great American Experiment, born with such hope and optimism for an enlightened human future, may end like the snuffing out of a guttering flame. Like so many world empires before, the American empire will no longer be a culture in which people live but a place future scholars will study. For the American people things will be far worse, not academic at all, for we will have lost the flame that lights the demon-haunted darkness Carl Sagan once wrote about, and descend once more into an era best lost to history.

Elderly teacher and sex ed, plus Utah's non-sex ed classes

The Utah legislature is ready to pass a law, that first mandated absolutely no sex education shall be taught and prohibited teacher from answering any human reproductive questions by students. However, they have amended it to leave the choice up to the school district about teaching sex education or not. BUT with that said, if a district chooses to teach sex education, it can only teach abstinence only and prohibited from talking about condoms, STDs, birth control, pregnancy or anything else related to human sexuality and the reproductive organs, other than identifying them in the body in human anatomy class.

But even human anatomy class was a touch and go debate, but decided it was OK to include them since the textbooks talked about the reproductive organs and showed them in the drawings in the textbooks, so it would be impossible to have the publisher remove the subject of reproduction just for Utah's schools.

This is of course why Rick Santorum is advocating home schooling and small local private schools who can select what they teach the kids and exclude anything that may offend the parents, like science, human anatomy, sex ed, social science, political science, civics, history and replacing all of that deleted courses with religious teachings from the Christian Bible.

Of course their attitude is ignorance is the best education, that goes for science as well, as in trying to include intelligent design as a science when teaching evolution and mandating that the kids be taught that the US is NOT a democracy, but a compound constitutional republic, whatever that is.

So in light of this ignorance and the sex education debate, here is a little joke to give you a laugh.

An elderly, single, third grade teacher was informed she would have
to teach sex education.

She was quite upset and refused the assignment. She didn't think she
would actually be able to talk about the subject. Eventually, she
changed her mind as the alternative was to be fired.

On the first day of school she drew a woman's body on the blackboard,
pointed to the chest and asked the class "Does anyone know what
this is called?"

Jane, who was sitting in the first row, raised her hand and answered
"It's called a 'breast' and my mommy has two of them!"

"Very good," said the teacher. Then she drew a male body on the
board, pointed to the groin, and asked "Does anyone know what
this is called?"

This time Billy raised his hand. "I know what it is! It's called a
'penis' and my daddy has two of them."

"That's the right name," said the teacher, but I don't think your
daddy has two of them."

"Yes he does!" said Billy. "He has a little one that he uses to pee,
and big one he brushes mommy's teeth with!"

Rick Santorum Questioned Obama's Faith In 2008, Said There's No Such Thing As A Liberal Christian

This is much the same as Republican Mormons.

In stark contrast to comments made earlier this week, Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum addressed the issue of now-President Barack Obama's Christian faith in a 2008 interview with the Oxford Centre for Religion and Public Life, Buzzfeed reported Tuesday.

When asked if he believed Obama is a "sincere liberal Christian," the former Pennsylvania senator said he didn't believe that sort of ideology exists, and that Obama's church, United Church of Christ in Chicago, had "abandoned Christendom" and used a non-literal interpretation of the Bible.

"I don't think there is such a thing," he said of Obama as a liberal Christian. "To take what is plainly written and say that 'I don't agree with that, therefore I don't have to pay attention to it,' means you're not what you say you are. You're a liberal something, but you're not a Christian." 

Santorum made headlines last week after telling an Ohio crowd that Obama subscribes to "some phony theology, not a theology based on the Bible."

He defended his comments on Sunday during an interview with CBS News' "Face the Nation."

"I've repeatedly said I don't question the president's faith," he said. "I've repeatedly said that I believe the president's Christian." 

He further clarified, "I am talking about his worldview or the way he approaches problems in this country and I think they're different than how most people do in America."

However, Santorum has continued to criticize Obama on matters of faith. On Monday, he told a Michigan audience that Obama was "particularly weak" in protecting religious liberty.

"When you have the president of the United States referring to the freedom of religion and you have the Secretary of State referring to the freedom of religion, not as the freedom of religion but the freedom of worship, you should get very nervous, very nervous," he said.

MY THOUGHTS:

There is a similar attitude by the Mormons in Utah that it is impossible to be a Mormon if you are a Democrat and especially if you are a Liberal or Progressive. Which I find absolutely crazy, given that both Mormons and Christians profess to believe in Jesus and his teachings of helping the poor, needy, and sick. But the Republicans who claim to be the only true party ordained by God and Jesus, as the righteous political party.

This attitude has reflected in the constant DEMONIZING of Democrats, Liberals, Progressives and Atheists. All of whom to them are evil and servants of the Devil and here to take over the country and the world.

When you convert a political party into a religion, then there is no compromise with the evil ones to govern the country. The only way you can see things done is your ordained and righteous way that has been conveyed to you  by God through his written record, the Bible.

We are now seeing the result of this takeover of the Republican party by the Christianists and how the two are so intertwined that they can't compromise on any legislation because it would violate their religious faith, which is their political and economic ideology, converting it to theology.

Until another political party rises to replace the moderate, non-religious, Republicans who fight for ideology not theology, can we ever have effective compromise and effective governance of our country, as well as within the states where this intertwining of faith and politics has occurred.

Want to change the country, DON'T VOTE REPUBLICAN EITHER FEDERALLY OR LOCALLY! Get them out of the governance and lets create another party to balance the ideology of the Democrats with meaningful compromise and effective governance for the collective good of the nation and all its citizens.

Santorum would reverse Supreme Court if they legalize Gay Marriages

Republican Candidate Rick Santorum Speaks about reversing any Supreme Court ruling that may grant equality under the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. He thinks citizens should have a right to vote on who gets what civil rights and equal protection under the constitution.

GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum said Sunday morning he would try to overturn any Supreme Court decision in favor of same-sex marriage if he became president.

Santorum was asked by Meet The Press host David Gregory about the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals finding Proposition 8 unconstitutional and whether he would seek any change if the highest court ruled in favor of the LGBT community.

“I would do the same thing I would with Roe v Wade, which I would seek to try and overturn it,” he said. “I think judicial tyranny is a serious issue in this race and this country. And we need judges who respect the people’s voice. Let the people decide with respect to what the constitution says, if in fact they would go through a constitutional amendment process.”

Santorum earlier this week slammed the Ninth Circuit’s decision, calling it “another in a long line of radical activist rulings by this rogue circuit.” 

Unfortunately for Santorum, his effort would be futile. No president can overturn any Supreme Court decision.

My Thoughts, 

Now think about this, the conservatives have a majority on the Supreme Court. Should they agree with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that marriage is a civil liberty and must treat all citizens equal under the 14th Amendment. To then attempt to reverse the Supreme Court would be to pass a Constitutional Amendment by getting both Houses of Congress to pass it by 2/3 vote and then by two thirds of all the states must ratify the amendment. That is a difficult thing to accomplish.

So Santorum would be very busy in the White House, he has proposed a constitutional amendment to define person-hood at the time a human egg cell is fertilized by a male sperm. This would make any abortion murder and the use of any contraception that would prevent a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus, thus being a criminal act of murder. To include miscarriages, and after intercourse when an egg my become fertilized, but expelled before it can attach to the uterus. So most forms of contraception would be illegal.

So much for civil liberties that were supposed to be guaranteed by our constitution. 

 

While discussing embryonic stem cell research, Rick Santorum says that many scientists feel no "moral compulsion."  This guy is absolutely nuts... He thinks scientists are without morals, contraceptives are harmful to women because it makes them promiscuous, gays are not equal citizens, must be Christian to hold public office, and US military assaults on all Muslim countries is not terrorism.

This is his answer to the embryonic stem cell research.

How screwed up is this argument.

I can't believe the Chris Wallace pushed Rick Santorum on this issue. Obviously Fox News is not a supporter of him. Now that is a surprise to me, since they have hired Mike Huckabee and gave him his own show. Huckabee advocates the very same idea. What planet do these guys live on???
